A Flow-Chart Representation of  the Interrelationships of Molecular Pathogenic Events in AD

N.B. It should be noted that this series is based on the 'beta-amyloid cascade' theory of AD and that not everybody holds to this view. With my recent and fairly limited experience in AD research I believe that this 'cascade' may only hold true for some variants of the disease. I do not believe necessarily that the progress of the disease is always so 'uni-directional' (e.g. some of the recently-discovered tau mutations may shed new light on this aspect). Nonetheless, the examination of this cascade is useful to put the various aspects of the disease that are covered on this site into context.
